Technology

Dynamic Organic Light is developing technology and materials that address the primary limitations of existing organic light emitting diode (OLED) materials for display applications, namely: manufacturing cost, color purity, and lifetime.

To address these issues, the Company has developed a proprietary, 100% solution-processible materials 'suite' that is compatible with ink jet printing equipment.  This 'suite' of materials includes novel hole-injection (HIL), hole-transport (HTL), emissive (EML) and electron-injection and transport (ETL) layer materials.

The number of displays manufactured using OLED technology has increased dramatically in recent years and according to DisplaySearch, annual sales of OLED displays will exceed US$4.6 Billion by 2010. However, those same forecasts also suggest that this growth will be achieved by the production of intermittent-use type displays only, such as those used in cell phones and MP3 players, rather than a broadening of the technology into larger area display devices.

The expansion of OLED to larger area displays requires adoption of new materials and methodologies with lower manufacturing costs and improved performance and this is what Dynamic Organic Light seeks to provide.
